Mary Wollstonecraft tribute by Maggi Hambling unveiled in Newington Green, London

The crowd funded statue by artist Maggi Hambling, a tribute to Mary Wollstonecraft, caused controversy when it was unveiled on Tuesday 10th November 2020 as it depicted Wollstonecraft, the mother of feminism, as a naked woman. Wollstonecraft lived in Newington Green and attended the Unitarian church, also on the Green.
