Flossie Wong-Staal (born 1947), Chinese-American virologist and molecular biologist. She cloned HIV and determined the function of the virus's genes, which contributed to proving that HIV causes AIDS. From 1990 to 2002, she was engaged in AIDS research at the University of California. She later co-founded a pharmaceuticals company.
