IED and mine detection dog and handler… Mechanized Brigade who are deploying to Afghanistan this autumn on Operation HERRICK 17. Task Force Helmand, as they will be known for the duration of their tour, will be a Joint Task Force led by 4th Mechanized Brigade. Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, Peter Luff and Brigade Commander, Brigadier Bob Bruce where present. The latest kit was on show. Regimental representatives from across the UK included: Scotland – 1 Battalion Scot Guards (based in Catterick) Scottish Lowlands – 1 SCOTS (based in Edinburgh) West Midlands and Nottingham – Queens Royal Lancers (based in Catterick) Lancashire, Merseyside and Cumbria – 1 LANCS (based in Catterick) South East – 1 RGR are based in Folkestone but recruit from Nepal.
