Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland, UK. A statue of Mohandas K. 6ft 4in bronze statue was revealed at Ayr Town Hall to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Gandhi's birth. The artwork weighs 400kg (63st) and was gifted to South Ayrshire by the Indian government's council for cultural relations. It is Scotland's first statue to Gandhi. A plaque near the statue bears Gandhi’s words: ‘There is no way to peace, peace is the way’.The bronze statue, the first of Gandhi in Scotland, was presented to Ayr Town Hall by the Indian government's Council for Cultural Relations.
