Annual, acaulescent; scapes usually severalfrom the same root, very slender, glabrous orhispidulous, monocephalous, i-i5 high, simple, orsometimes branched at or near the base. Leavescommonly all basal, tufted, spatulate, lanceolateor linear, pinnatifid, sinuate, lobed, dentate orrarely entire, i-6 long, narrowed at the base intousually margined petioles; head 3-7 broad;involucre of 9-18 linear-lanceolate bracts, reflexedafter the fall of the narrowly turbinate somewhat5-angled achenes; pappus of 5 round short scalesand 10 or more long capillary bristles.
