Backlight view of the Boboli Gardens of Palazzo Pitti in the historic centre of Florence, Unesco Site, with the Artichoke Fountain, Tuscany, Italy

The Artichoke Fountain was sculpted by Giovan Francesco Susini in 1639 and placed in 1641 on a terrace of the building that closes the north-east side of the courtyard of Ammannati of Palazzo Pitti. Originally, at the top there was a bronze lily, now lost, from which came out the water and which gives the name of "artichoke" to the entire composition.
