The specimen from which this photo- graph was taken measured thirteen inches in length by nine and a half inches in diameter, and is a fair average of the crop, although some specimens are of la'-ger size, reaching as high as twenty-five pounds each in weight. The skin is verv dark green in color, the rind is ver^' thin, barely half an inch thick, and the fle>h is of fine quality almost down to the skin. The color of the flesh is a bright straw yellow, and placed on the table makes a pleasing contrast with the red-fleshed Watermelons. Per pkt. 10 cts. ; oz. 15 cts. ; ^ lb 40 cts. ; perfl)| THE VOLGA. A new variety from Russia, which has succeeded well in Canada. The melons are about the same size as Burpee's Hungarian Jionfy, and globe- shaped, but the skin is much lighter in color.
