McMurray of Divernon in anote to the column, says that Edward ParksMcMurray of Pontiac, now in his eighty-sixth year, has a vivid recollection of a visithe made to Lincolns law office in Spring-field. The visit was made in company with hisgrandfather, Prof. Beaumont Parks, whotaught school in a log house, north of thecity, when Springfield was little more thana village. Several men of prominence re-ceived their early training under him. While engaged in this work, ProfessorParks tutored Abraham Lincoln privatelyin English and it was from him, it is said,that Lincoln derived much of his abilty asa speaker.
