DAHLGREN, Va. - Rear Admiral David Hahn, chief of naval research, and Capt. Godfrey "Gus" Weekes, NSWCDD commanding officer, hold an electromagnetic railgun projectile during Hahn's visit to NSWCDD, Jan. 12. The admiral led his Office of Naval Research (ONR) delegation to see new and emerging ONR sponsored technologies developed at NSWCDD, including directed energy and the electromagnetic railgun. They also watched engineers fire a hypervelocity projectile from a 5-inch, 62-caliber open mount gun at the Potomac River Test Range.
