A pair of torture shoes,German,16th/17th century,wrought iron overshoes made of several pieces of riveted sheet iron. The heel sections with four rings,through which laces or leather straps were threaded. Both bottom plates with five quadrangular spikes under the heels. Length 40 cm each. Pilloried criminals were forced to wear such shoes to increase their suffering.
