Protesters hold placards during the demonstration in Time’s York Sikh Council held a protest in solidarity with Farmers protesting in India against the three new laws that deregulate the agricultural sector in India. These new laws get rid of government subsidies for farmers that guarantee a minimum price for certain crops, eliminate government infrastructure for holding farmers’ crops and force farmers to deal with private companies as contract workers without much legal recourse against private companies.
