The intensive training waspushed to the limit and was supplemented by schools of every sort, the mostimportant of which was the Thirty-third Division Infantry School of Armsunder the able management first of Captain John P. Lucas and subsequentlyof Captain William H. Simpson. In all matters the highest standard was ex-acted, and, in conformity with General Bells requirements, the service recordof each man was repeatedly examined during a period of several months byofficers particularly selected for that purpose, so that every inaccuracy wascorrected on the A CHARGE THROUGH THE RAVINE 100 ILLINOIS IN THE WORLD WAR
