British Rail station sign outside Gourock station.

British Rail station sign outside Gourock station. The station first opened on 1st June 1889 as the terminus of an extension to the Glasgow, Paisley and Greenock Railway, following the decline of the steamer service as the previous terminus, Greenock Central. The station underwent a £5 million refurbishment between 2010, demolishing the dilapidated station buildings and canopies and constructing a new, more inviting station in its place.
