In Ireland it seems to be a regular summer visitant tocertain districts, but must be considered very local. , in his ^Fauna of Cork, mentions two taken therein November, 1839; and one was found dead in the gardenof Mr. Ball, near Youghal, in the second week in January,1838. Eoberfc J. Montgomery, Esq., Jun., shot two on the. BLACKCAP. 95 21^t. of December, 18 IS, at the Manor House, Rah en v, nearDublin. Mr. Templeton noticed it at his own residence,Cranmore, on the 17th. of June, 1818, and twice since. Onewas procured in the garden of the Bishop of Dovn, nearBelfast, on the 1st. of March, 1834: one near Dublin, the■first week in December, 1833; and one in the Phoenix Park,about the middle of May, 18M. Two in the same localityin December, 1843; one at Donnybrook, once so celebratedfor its fair, in October, 1846; one at Rathfarnham, also inthe same county, in January, 1847; and one at Moores*Svveet Vale of Avoca, in the county of Wicklow, on the23rd. of May, 1837. One of a small party of six or seven,probably the family of the year, was procured at Clonmel, onthe 27th. of December, 1834; others at Ballibrado, in thecounty of Tipperary; one near Waterford on the 9th. ofOctober, 1830, and another on the 21st. of August, 1834, atDun more, in that coun
