Inquisitive Florida manatee.

During the winter months, the endangered Florida manatee migrate down the Crystal River and other Florida rivers to congregate in the warmer waters of the head springs. Manatees are unable to survive in water temperatures much below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. These Florida manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris) are shown in the Three Sisters Springs area, a wildlife sanctuary and natural inlet on the east side of Kings Bay. At least half of each day is spent sleeping on the bottom of the river, with the animal surfacing for air every 20 minutes or less.
