American Ditcher Unloading Itself From Flat Car Suppose an Ameri-can Railroad Ditcherhas been received andit is desired to run it offthe flat car. The ma-chine when shipped fromthe factory rests uponfour-inch hardwoodboards, the two portabletrack sections lying infront of machine on the car. After the machine isset up and put under steam, proceed as follows: First—Lift the narrow section of transfer track offthe car onto the ground alongside. Second—Place the wider section in proper posi-tion on deck of car with ends of rails flush with endof car. Third—Run machine off the boards on which itwas shipped onto the rail section thus placed. Fourth—Pick up the narrow section, swing itaround and place it with one end on the car betweenthe wide section, and the other end on ground, endsresting against a tie to prevent sl
