A 'gig' is a boat designed for greatest speed under oar. These are Cornish pilot gigs used in a racing sport governed by the Cornish Piot Gig Association. Boats have 6 crew & coxswain. Modern boats are created from an 1838 design by William Peters of St this image the 'Teylu' shows the the traditional construction and the other two are fibreglass.
