He practised law in Rotter-dam from 1874 to 1879, then came to America,and in 18S1 studied law in the office of Davies,^Vork, McNaraee & Hilton. He received the de-gree of Bachelor of Laws from Columbia in 1882,and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1887 he formed a connection with Judge NoahDavis and was in partnership with him from 1893to 1896, since which time he has practised lawalone, making a specialty of trademark law, andrepresenting as general counsel for that purposesome of the largest foreign houses.
