The boardis protected by a 2x6 inch board, extending across the apron, andhaving a |-inch hole bored at each end to receive two hooks fastened tothe battery posts. Four inches below the board, on the apron, runs atrough in which are two apertures 3 inches square, through which thepulp passes to a copper plate 5 inches wide, with a pitch toward themortar, whence it passes to the sluice plates, 2 feet wide and 22 feetlong, covered with yVi^ich copper plates set on a grade of 2 inches tothe foot.
