Emperor Augustus' successor Tiberius, (42 BC – 37 AD) was the second Roman emperor, reigning from 14 AD to 37 AD. In 27 AD, Tiberius built a series of villas at Capreae (Capri), an island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Sorrentine Peninsula, on the south side of the Gulf of Naples in the Campania region of Italy. He then moved there permamently from where he ran the Empire until his death in 37 AD.
