A farmer halts for a while on the road near Rahim Yar Khan. His camel stands tall and his load of cotton and some building materials can wait is in the area called Cholistan, south up to the Indo-Pak border. The surface of the desert consists of a succession of sand dunes rising at places to a height of 150 metres and covered with the vegetation peculiar to sandy tracts.
