Senator Burrows introduced astemporary chairman was met by wildapplause. The delivery of his pre-pared speech occupied nearly onehour. He said in part: He reviewed the history of the party and the - conntry, showingthe wonderful progress, and develop-ment during the RepdttLcsn adminis-tration of pnblic affairs. The work of the nine executive departments, the pension bureau and thearmy was touched upon in turn andthe successful and efficient management pointed out.
