He was always a conservative Democrat of the oldschool, and in his religious life was a worthy member ofthe Protestant Episcopal church. He contributed liber-ally to the cost of erecting Christ Church at Manhasset,and to the close of his life he was a staunch supporter ofthe various financial interests of the parish.
