Hundreds of anti-war activists demonstrated against the looming prospect of UK intervention in the Syrian civil war following chemical weapons attacks on civilians. A small counter demonstration by Syrians held a few yards away demanded action be taken against the Assad regime. Anti-war protesters blocked the traffic in both directions in whitehall although the protest was generally good natured with only one arrest.
