Sm: During the fiscal year ended June 30, 1914, the mineral outputof Alaska showed a slight decrease. The decrease was caused largelyby the extremely dry summer in the northern part of the Territoryand by the exhaustion of many of the bonanzas of the placer the dry summer caused losses to many operators, it wasnot altogether without benefit, as it gave prospectors an opportunityto sink prospect shafts in stream beds that had not been dry enoughduring previous summers. Three new placer fields, the Chisana, the Nelchina, and the An-dreafski, were discovered and caused some stampeding.
