Calotropis procera is a species of flowering plant in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. It is commonly known as the apple of sodom or Kapok tree and the milky sap is highly toxic. The sap contains a complex mix of chemicals, some of which are steroidal heart poisons known as \cardiac aglycones\". These belong to the same chemical family as similar chemicals found in foxgloves (Digitalis purpurea). Photographed in Southern Ethiopia."
