Chilton Church. In the chapel against the west wall, is a large mural monument,chiefly of alahaster, containing three compartments, the eeutre one arched, the twoothers with square heads, the arch supported by pillars of Corinthian order, of blackmarble. In the arch kneels a man, fronting the east, with a ruif round his neck; he is inarmour, below which appears his breeches, which are made fuU, and of a red is kneeling on a cushion, his hands clasped, his sword by his side. In the niche onthe south side, kneels a woman in profile, facing the man; she is in a black dress witha ruif, her hair not covered with anything except just behind, from whence falls a sortof veil; the cushion which she kneels on is red.
