Ulupalakua is an area of upcountry Maui which has a long history as farm land growing sugar cane, cattle and now wine grapes. The land is still used for ranching with a large tract set aside for preservation of its agricultural heritage. The Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill is also part of the historic narrative and is open daily with Maui-grown produce as well as Ranch-grown lamb, beef and elk served fresh from the grill. The store has evolved. "We're becoming a food destination," says Will Munder, Executive Chef of Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill. "Before, it was 'There's the winery,' or 'It's a nice drive,' but now people are coming here from the West Side just to have lunch. They love our food!"
