Stout (deceased):In Bois de Foret, October 12, loiS, afterthe battalion objective haci been reached,Lieutenant Stouts platoon, which was in thefront wave, was attacked from the rear byenemy troops that had penetrated the line fromthe left. Lieutenant Stout quickly changed hisposition and led his men in a hand-to-handfight. All of the hostile force, forty men andsix machine guns were killed or captured,Lieutenant Stout himself killing three Germansand capturing one machine gun. Second Lieutenant Earl W.
