HARDINWas born at Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois, June 26, is a descendant of martial ancestry. His great-grandfather wasGeneral John Hardin, of Kentucky, who commanded a company oftroops in Colonel Morgans celebrated regiment of riflemen at the battleof Saratoga, and was present at the capture of the British army underGeneral Burgoyne on 17th October, 1777.
