DIRECTIONAL ATHERECTOMY

Directional atherectomy by Simpson catheter. Made of a blade, that is constrained by a ballonnet catheter, the plaque of atheroma is grinded by the Simpson catheter. Once reduced into small fragments, it will be aspirated. Here, example of a coronary artery. This image is part of a series on vascular pathologies and its treatments (angioplasty, atherectomy). See. images 0322707 for a healthy artery, 0324207 and 0324107 for an artery obstructed by a plaque atheroma, 0324307 and 0324607 for a stenosed artery caused by a tumor ; images 0322107, 0322507 and 0322407 for the angioplasty by balloon catheter, 0322007, 0322207 and 0322307 for the placement of a stent, 0322607 for the Simpson atherotome in use and 0324007 for the rotablator.
