A mosaic which runs along the facade of the Grand Palais shows the different steps in the history of art. The Grand Palais was built for the Paris Exhibition of 1900 at the same time as the Petit Palais, and features a mix of classical and art nouveau styles - stone columns support a glass and cast iron roof.
