He served foreight years in Captain Donaldsons company in the Federal army. Hewas a Republican in politics and a Methodist Protestant in religion ; andhe was a school trustee for a number of terms, and trustee of Hundley. They settled in Jack-son, now Roane county, in 1838, where Mr. Raines died in 1863, and hiswife died, March 6, 1882.
