A pair of silver-mounted flintlock traveler's pistols, Claude Coignet in St. Etienne, circa 1780. Two-stage barrels, octagonal becoming round, with smooth bores in 12 mm calibre, remnants of the original bluing, and rich gold-inlaid decoration on the tops of the barrels. Finely engraved flintlocks with the signatures, "C. Coignet le Lyonais". Lightly carved walnut stocks with fine silver wire inlay (inlay incomplete in places). Finely engraved silver furniture. Ramrods with iron tips. Length of each 17 cm. Claude Coignet worked at the St. Etienne, Additional-Rights-Clearance-Info-Not-Available
