BRIDESMAID. (New Pink Tea Rose.) Here we have a new Rose, a sport from the old standby Cather- ine Mermet. This new variety retains all the good qualities of the parent, besides adding charms not possessed by the sweet Cather- ine. All know that Catherine Mermet takes precedence as a pink Rose. More plants of it are cultivated by the amateur, and more cut bloom is sold by the flower dealer of it than any pink Rose. Why? Because the bud is of exquisite shape and contour, so . solid and firm, and the stems are so long: and stiff that no other Rose will compare with it in keep- ing qualities after being cut. It is a rose that supplies a long-felt want. A few of the white ever-blooming Roses now in commerce have bsautiful double flowers, but none of them compare with The Bride in the size and shape of the buds and half expanded flowers. The buds are very large and of exqui- site form; the petals are of fine texture and substance, and' the full flower is very double, measur- ing from three and one-half to four inches in diameter. The color is a delicate creamy white. The blooms can be cut with long stems, and will last in a fresh state after being cut, longer than any other known variety. This new Rose is a sport from Catherine Mermet, and is equally valuable either for summer or winter flow- ering. Price, 15 cents; large size, 25 cents. CORNELIA COOK.
