Resigned Philippine National Police Chief General Alan Purisima attends the Senate probe on the Mamasapano clash in Maguindanao at the Senate. 44 Special Action Force (SAF) troopers died on 25th January 2015 in the town of Mamasapano in Maguindanao province as they carried out a covert operation to neutralize global terrorist, Zulkifli Abdhir also known as Marwan. Several bodies are investigating the incident including the PNP board of inquiry, the AFP military fact-finding committee, and respective committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
