Alhambra Castle, Granada, Andalusia, Spain.
The Alhambra is a "palace city", built by the Nasrids in the 11th Century, but not developed into a Royal Palace until the 13th Century with arrival of Muhammad I of Granada, the first monarch of the Nasrid Dynasty. The final Moors were expelled from the city of Granada by the Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492. Part of the original complex was demolished in 1527 by Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor, in order to build the palace which bears his name.
