The stitch is a double one, takenover two threads of canvas inheight and width, or morethan two threads, the objectbeing always to form a perfectsquare. To work, as shown inFig. 38: Take the wool in aslanting direction across thesquare, from left to the needle up on thelower left-hand corner, pitt itin at the upper right-hand corner, bring it up at thelower right-hand corner, and cross it back to the upperleft-hand corner. When grounding in Cross Stitch, workthe first part of the stitch in rows along the canvas, andcross these when returning.
