China: Equestrian drawings on paper from Mazar Tagh, Xinjiang. Mazar Tagh (Tomb Mountain) is located in the middle of the Taklamakan Desert, about halfway along the Khotan cross-desert highway, then west across the Hotan River. There are the remains of an old fortress dating from the 7th-8th century CE.
