Hiram Gage was born in March, 1802, at Castleton, onthe Hudson. He came to the city of Hudson with hisparents when a mere child, was educated at the publicschools, and spent the remainder of his life in this name appears among those who were connected withthe public enterprises of Hudson for nearly half a was a successful crockery merchant for many years, andacquired a competency upon which, about four years pre-vious to his death, he had retired, leaving the business hehad so long and industriously followed to his nephew. Mr. Gage was interested in founding the Farmers Bankof Hudson, of which he was one of the early directors, andcontinued in that position till the time of his death.
