China: Noble Consort Ying (7 March 1731 - 14 March 1800), concubine of the Qianlong Emperor. Handscroll painting by Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766), c. 1736-1770s. The Noble Consort Ying was the daughter of banner Lieutenant General Nachin, and came from the Mongol Bordered Red Banner Barin clan. She was promoted to Concubine Ying in 1751, and in 1760, Lady Barin was elevated to an imperial consort. Finally, in 1798 the Qianlong Emperor, who had retired in favour of his son the Jiaqing Emperor but still effectively remained in power as a Retired Emperor, elevated her to Noble Consort Ying.
