Illustration of workers harvesting mulberry (Morus sp.) leaves for the feeding of silk moth (Bombyx mori) larvae. Silk is made from the cocoons spun for the pupae of the silk moth. The moth is native to China, where silk has been produced for at least 5000 years. Illustration from 'Les boutiques de Paris' by Eugene Muller, Paris (1882).
