Hirudotheraphy or leech therapy is one of the oldest complementary therapies in Kashmir, where it is used to treat a number of ailments including sinusitis, skin conditions, arthritis, frostbite, and headaches. The medical use of leeches dates back to ancient Egypt where bloodletting was a common practice to prevent and cure illnesses
