Condenser steam engine, 19th century. Illustration of a section through a steam engine with a condenser and double-effect air pump. The steam engine's piston is at lower right, in the cylinder across bottom. The condenser chamber is at top. The double air pumps are at upper right and upper left. Several valves are also shown connecting the various engine chambers.
