There has been a steady developmentduring the past few years in apparatus for taking careof small consumers in this field, and this apparatus isreliable in every POLE EQUIPMENT FOR PRIVATEPOWER SUPPLY Having Infrequently-Used Snow ScraperAlways Ready The Newport News & Hampton Railway, Gas & Elec-tric Co., Hampton, Va., has little use for a snow on the rare occasions when a snow storm causestrouble, a three or four-hour delay in installing a largescraper on a car is serious. Consequently, E. C. Kelly,overhaul shop foreman, endeavored to make a permanentinstallation of the scraper on a car which would involvean investment small enough to warrant tying it up con-tinuously. The idea was of course advanced for thesake of having the scraper all ready on these rare occa-sions when needed. A Root spring scraper was installed at a across the track on the bottom of a small four-wheel flat car, and the car was loaded with eight oldcar wheels to weight it down.
