J8g§'We pay postage on Flower and Garden Seeds except where noted. ASPARAGUS. Spargel, Ger. Asperge, Fr. Esparragos, Sp. One ounce will sow forty feet of drill. Sow in March or April, in rows 1 foot apart, and keep clean by frequent hoeing. When two years old transplant into per- manent beds, which should be well and deeply manured and trenched to the depth of 18 inches. Set the plants in rows from 3 to 4 feet apart and 2 feet in the rows, spreading out the roots, and covering from 6 to 8 inches. On the approach of winter cover with manure or compost; fork the beds early in spring, and apply a dressing of salt at the rate of 600 lbs. an acre. Cut for use the second year, after planting in permanent bed. Conover'S Colossal. One of the best varieties, large and productive. Pkt. 5 cts., oz. 10 cts., \ lb. 20 cts., lb. 60 cts. Dreer's Eclipse. Beyond question this is the largest and finest Asparagus. Stalks frequently measure two inches in diameter, and, even when twelve to fifteen inches long, are perfectly tender. It is of remarkably rapid growth, arid remains in good condition several days after being ready for cutting. Of medium green color, excellent fla- vor and attractive size, it is destined to become a leading market sort and in large demand for private gardens. Pkt. .1
