The lighthouse at the end of a breakwater that helps define the channel connecting Lake Michigan and Waukegan Harbor in Waukegan, Illinois. The Waukegan Harbor Light was built in 1899 and appears today nearly is it did then. The light, the fog signal and its housing were destroyed and or removed as a result of a fire. It remains an active light, owned and maintained by the US Coast Guard.
