Woods Hole is a picturesque hamlet of a hundred buildings, locatedon a promontory, on the extreme southern point of the peninsula whichforms Barnstable County. The harbor is small, but affords good anchor-age, and is well protected by outlying headlands and islands. This isthe terminus of the road in this direction, and is the nearest point ofrailroad connection to Marthas town in the Commonwealth.
