In his later life he farmed lands which are nowwithin the city limits, and died at his home Feb. 8,1814. SOUTHARD, Milton Isaiali, lawyer, wasborn at Perryton, Licking county, O., Oct. 20, 1836,son of Isaiah and grandson of Abraham )ie father was a native of Pennsylvania, and thegrandfather of New Jersey, and was related to Sam-uel L. Southard, U. S. senator from that state. Thefamily is of English descent, thefirst in America being ThomasSouthard, who was settled atHempstead, L. I., as early as1657. The grandfather, Abra-ham Southard, removed toWashington county, Pa., was alarge landholder, and filled theoffice of sheriff. He marriedElizabeth, daughter of FrancisHull of that county, who waskilled by the Indians while onan expedition down the Ohioriver in the latter part of the lastcentury.
