Wylfa nuclear power station, Anglesey, Wales. This power station is located on the coast of the island of Anglesey, and is cooled by water drawn from the sea. It was built from 1963 and began operating in 1971. Since 1991, and as of 2012, is is the only nuclear power station in Wales. Electricity is generated with power from two Magnox nuclear reactors, capable of delivering 490 megawatts (MW) each. These are, as of 2012, the world's only operational Magnox reactors. The second reactor was shut down in April 2012. The remaining uranium fuel for the first reactor is expected to be used up before the scheduled closure in 2014.
